Editor’s Notes

Always do what is right. It will gratify half of mankind and confound the other. “In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves,” says Eleanor Roosevelt. “The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” Author Stephen Covey  challenges, “Look at the word responsibility – “response-ability” – the ability to choose your response. Highly proactive people recognize that responsibility. They do not blame circumstances, conditions, or conditioning for their behavior. Their behavior is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their conditions, based on feeling.” 

Here at Sisyphus, we thought a great deal about the shifting landscape of morality and ethics–the gaslighting in the political arena, climate disruption and the generational divide, religion v. women’s rights, species loss, and the future on this planet. It seems that values and belief systems shouldn’t morph, but greed has superseded common sense.  The authors on these pages explore the new world as we are coming to know it.
