Kenai Gonzalez
Kenai Gonzalez is a singer-songwriter hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of California, Irvine in 2019 with a focus in songwriting and a cappella arranging. In his teenage years, Kenai played all around California with T-Shirt Tuxedo, a pop rock band, performing as lead singer and rhythm guitarist. He plays numerous instruments, including guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele.
He first joined choir in his sophomore year of high school and has been performing with numerous award winning choirs for the past seven years. From 2017 - 2019, he served as music director and resident arranger for a cappella group Vermillion Vocalists, in which he led the group to ICCA’s and the number one spot at the schools largest talent competition, Soulstice. He has served as the event coordinator of UCI’s premier a cappella festival, AcaLove, for the past two years. The festival hosts groups from all over Southern California, including The Filharmonic (Pitch Perfect 2, The Late Late Show with James Corden). He has also appeared in two operas produced by Claire Trevor School of the Arts: Our Town and Dido & Aeneas.
During his time in college, he taught with the Youth Singers of Orange County in Costa Mesa. He served as producer for the lead single of Joshua Bade’s EP, Beige and Opal and hopes to bring on more projects as a music producer in the coming years. Kenai now teaches with The Music Factory OC and has released two commercial singles, “Driftin’ and “Lifeline.”
